Crash landing of an Google Lunar X award winning Israeli spacecraft Beresheet.
Beresheet against the lunar surface.

Moon, one and only natural satellite of planet Earth has always been a mysterious object for mankind. That's why human's has always tried to explore moon and for that numerous space missions have been undertaken to study Earth's natural satellite. Luna 2, was the first spacecraft to reach its surface successfully(Satellite of Soviet Union) and was launched on September 1959. In the year of 1966, another spacecraft of Soviet Union became the first to achieve a controlled soft landing. However several missions were undertaken through decades. Some of them failed and some of them were successful. Now we are going to discuss about an amazing spacecraft which was launched on 22 February 2019, 1:45 UTC and was named as Beresheet.

Beresheet Lunar Lander:

Beresheet was a small robotic lunar lander and lunar probe operated by the Israel Aerospace Industries. Its goal was to promote careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and landing its magnetometer, digital time capsule and laser retro reflector on the Moon. The type of the spacecraft was Lunar Lander and was manufactured by SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries.

22 February, 2019 time 1:45 UTC, the spacecraft started its journey to moon via Falcon 9 B5. The rocket is a two stage-to-orbit medium lift launch vehicle designed and manufactured by SpaceX in the United States. In the interest of costing low fuel, the Beresheet was programmed to complete its mission using gravity. The site which was planned for landing was located in the north part of Mare Serenitatis and the zone was about 15 km in diameter. Beresheet had no thermal control and was expected quickly overheat. That is why it was planned to be operated for an estimated two days on the lunar surface. However, everything was going according to the plan. The spacecraft entered the lunar orbit and was preparing for landing. Suddenly the Initial Measurement Unit(IMU2) gyroscope failed during the braking procedure on approach to the landing site and the ground control lost the connections with the spacecraft. When communications were restored the crafts main engine had already stopped working for an extended period. The engine was bought back online following a system-wide reset. However, the craft had already lost too much altitude to slow its decent sufficiently. The final reading indicated that at an altitude of 150 meters, the craft was still travelling over 500 kilometeres per hour, which caused a crash landing on the lunar surface. And the mission ends here. Though Beresheet failed to complete its goals but it two last photographs: a view of itself against the lunar surface and a closer shot which will help us with our next expeditions.

Our journey to space will go on! After two days of the crash landing or on 13 April 2019, Morris Kahn( Israeli billionaire entrepreneur and the founder of Golden Pages Israel, Amdocs, the Aurec Group

, Coral World and other companies.)
announced that a new mission, named Beresheet-2 would attempt second time land on the moon.

A day will come when there would be no limitations, no barriers. We will be able to explore more and more about our universe. The day is not so far. All we need to do is to study science and technology more and more and should never give up.
